A 10-day sailing class to prepare for longer open crossings

In June of 2024, I was fortunate to land a spot on Mark Gordon's boat AmicusII for the "Lonely Islands Tour", a 10-day sail that would take us to Isle Royale, the Slate Islands, Michipicoten Island and back to Isle Royale. All from Grand Marais.

Our crew of 6, under the experienced tutilage of Mark Gordon and assitant Ned Corkran (both will be joining Nord Hus for the Passage across the Labrador Sea to Greenland), accomplished an increbile sail - doubt it could be repeated in such perfect sailing conditions.

We even got to learn about celestial navigation and sextant use - fun stuff!

What a wonderful learning experience with a great crew!
