Less things, less problems. Simplicity is best.

Time for demolition and removal of unnecessary bells and whistles that could fail.

Having lived in a small off-grid dry cabin (no running water) for years, the luxuries on this sailboat felt a little decadent… but that was not to be for very long!

After being away for a couple of weeks, I returned to find that the hot water tank heater was removed, the shower lines demolished, the flush toilet and black water tank removed – it made me laugh! This would not be a luxury cruiser – hahaha!

From a practical point, in the Arctic and a potential overwinter, everything we can do to avoid freezing lines is a good thing!  We replaced the head with The THRONE, a well-designed, simple composting toilet. Bird baths from boiled water, it will be!

We also reinforced every window by adding a second layer of windows all around. It also provides additional insulation in the cold Arctic sea. Another modification closer to being ready for the rough seas.

Here, Lonnie is cutting in holes to improve ventilation throughout the boat.
